OK, here's the question. Do you think a D9P could work? What other pattern might work?
Her birthday is in early April so I don't have that much time and my stash is totally void of anything suitable even for a start.
Thanks, everyone. I'll look forward to reading the advice!

A D9P would be very fast. I would think even shopping in the shirt dept. of a thrift store would help you acquire a quick assortment of whites and pinks.

this is going to be a off the wall question what is a whole cloth quilt I thought cutting up material and sewing it back together was making a quilt if whole cloth means what I think that you use one whole piece of material and quilt it Thanks

Keepsake Quilting sells whole cloth tops that are premarked. The tops come in white or natural. You could use pink varigated thread to quilt on the design.

Look up Martha Pullen. She makes the prettiest quilts with pale colors in heirloom styles. You could adapt one of her ideas? Good Luck.

Would you let me know the name of the store and the town it is located in? I am always looking for more places to leave my money.

Beautiful suggestion. Maybe use the really pale pink where she used beige.

Whole cloth quilt was what came to me when I read your posting something like a polished cotton that would have a bit of sheen to it. I like the idea of a pale thread for quilting

Where would you even buy polished cotton?????, been looking for some for a long time.

What makes a "Triple Rail Fence" different from a rail fence?

That's what my friend, who helped me start quilting again, called her rail fence b/c she used 3 sets of blocks in her rail fence. It is the same pattern just called by a different name is all the difference that I know. FYI: Have never seen any other rail fences done that way but they sure went together quickly (except I didn't like her color choices - too dark and somber for me.)

Cheaper by the Dozen is a great, easy, pattern that looks great. It takes 12 fat quarters and goes together quickly.

if she truly wants white then look for the white on white fabrics. they will have some pattern to give definitation. Many years ago there was a quilter who ony worked with muslin. They were betutiful.

I just saw a log cabin recently (can't remember where) but they used very pale shades on tans and beige for the dark side. The light side was different whites.

Polished cotton is sometimes called 'chintz'.

That's what I was thinking! :)

Are they called whole cloth tops on the website? I have searched their website and couldn't find them.
