O.K. here goes, I won a $20.00 gift cert. from the quilted bee in the Fab shop hop back in April. I cashed it in for 3 charms, and decided that might not be enough but that was all she had. I found Hancocks had them and figured I would get 3 more, only they only had 2, so now I have 5, and I want to make a King quilt, I can add some other fabrics, but want to get a pattern that shows the beautiful prints, they are the Luna Notte collection from Moda, and the fabric is absolutely beautiful. I also bought 1 yard of one of the mini prints in this collection from the quilted bee. Any suggestions on a good pattern? So I have 200 charms that coordinate. :-D

I'm assuming you have 5 inch charms. I would get one of Pat Speth's 'Nickel Quilt' books. She has lots of patterns, all made with 5" charms. Might see if your library has one of her books.

yes they are 5 inch, I didn't realize there were any other size charms, silly me.:)

there are a number of great books out for charm quilts- a couple are---Nickle quilts; More Nickle Quilts,
and numerous charm named patterns and books- if you search for nickle quilts (5"squares-hense the nickle) or charm quilts you will find literally thousands to look at. |
I couldn't figure out what to do with my charms, either, until I found the 10-minute block.

I did a card trick quilt using a method shown on this board that required I cut the charm in half, and then on of the halves in half again. This gave me two pieces for each card, with a 2.5" square left over to play with. My quilt is shown here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-139870-1.htm

If you really really want the fabric to stand out---you might consider just alternating them with a beige charm in between each one. Really makes the fabric stand out.
