Any ideas for a quick project?
I'm tired lately .... going to be starting a job .... haven't sewed in a couple of weeks now.
That said, I'm going on a trip to Kalamazoo with my husband (coming up) & since he'll be busy with things, I'm going to take my sewing machine along. I don't want to have to do a lot of prep work so will buy myself a jelly roll or a pkg. of pre-cuts. Want to make something small .... approx. 15 x 30 or so (going to place something on top of it). Any ideas? Will be using caribbean colors .... blues & greens. Thanks! |
have you thought about a table runner?
|
I made small mats to put lamps on so they did not scratch the tables. Started with a medium hexie then went around log cabin style with 2 or 3 rounds. Turned out nice and was rather quick to make

I have been meaning to try my Curves ruler to make the curves runner pattern that came with it. I also haven't used my X Block ruler yet and Jenny Doan did a quilt with it on her last tutorial. It would make a nice table runner as well.

This one is on my list, and looks like a quick one, once you do the hexies. https://nightquilter.com/tag/modern-hexies-mini-quilt/

How about a braid table runner?

A mini zip quilt from a charm pack or MINI charm pack?
|
HAve you thought about making a small purse and, , there are many tuts online.
I A baby quilt comes to mind, or a table topper, think about what you like to have or need a present for. |
I just finished a tote bag from Jenny Doan's you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7i6Wrl4rZ8
It turned out pretty good. You can make three totes from one charm pack or cut out your 5 inch squares. It was fun and a great accomplishment for me. |
I just watched the Jenny Doan tutorial and it great. Thanks for sharing this info.

Maybe take some handwork for later quilts like hexies, yo yos. How about a strip quilt like the jelly roll race or scrappy foundation strips. Maybe QAYG. Lap quilt.

I noticed a lot of free patterns on Craftsy that used jellyrolls for patterns. I think the Caribbean colors would look nice in a couple of those. If you go to patterns in Craftsy and search, "free patterns" it will come up with a lot of them. Also Missouri Quilts had a lot pattern tutes for using jellyrolls.
