I got these at the thrift store.
The triangles are 6 1/4" squares cut x1 on the diagonal. The stack is about 2" high of them. The colors are mixed of the red, blue and flag print.
The rectangles are 8 x 3" and there are about half as many as there are of the triangles.
I have a large piece of the flag print suitable for backing, and enough of the red and blue to cut more peices.
Do these peices suggest a certain pattern to anyone? Any suggestions of what pattern I should consider to use these to best advantage?

What about a pinwheel with the triangles and a simple 4 or 9 patch with the rectangles. Put borders and alternated the blocks.

My first thought was pinwheel also.
Here is a pinwheel variation that I did with R/W/B fabrics. I'd have to get back to the pattern for the sizes of the pieces if you are interested.

wow your pinwheel is beautiful! For me, I'd need something much simpler as I'm still quite a beginner. I will start looking for a more basic pinwheel pattern tho. I do like the idea of alternating pinwheel and 9 sq. blocks.
I'm guessing I would need to cut the triangles again? Those would be fairly large pinwheels if I left them the size they are now.

What about sewing two different half square triangles together to make a block and alternate with a rail block ?

Or use the rectangles to frame the 1/2 square after they are sewn together ?

Pinwheel blocks, and use the rectangles for the border. Not a piano key, but use them lengthwise, alternating with a solid color, to make them stand out more.

sew them together into blocks. trim to size. Alternate with solid squares. Sew the rectangles in long strips for the border.
You will probably need additional coordinating fabric. I would use solid fabric.
This is the kind of treasure we sometime find and the pleasure and creativity is just rendomanlly sewing them together without worrying about a pattern. I did a similar quilt using poka dots in 5 colors and 3 sizes of poka dots. Very random, no attention to matching and it was the most rewarding quilt I have ever made. Sometime we have to let maddness take over.

What about 1/2 square triangles, with roman stripe blocks separating...

Puts me in mind of patriotic shoo fly or open barn door...

If the math works out so that they sew up same size....
then this would be simple enough, and you put together in 9 patch style, and could make center block plain solid block.

pinwheel blocks and make a 4th of July table runner

Are those true rectangles or fan pieces (wider at one end). I thought they looked like fan pieces, if so, you'll have to cut them down to make rectangles from them. Or just make a fan quilt! The white could be the background for the fans. They're easy to sew together, but then need to be appliqued on to a background block or even harder, sew a curved seam.
