Any quilters out there using the Janome Artistic Edge Cutter?
 

I've been seeing ads for a Janome Artistic Edge cutting machine, and I wondered if anyone uses one, and how the Simplecut software works with non-Janome machines. The ad says there are numerous edge stitches for use with applique shapes cut with the Artistic Edge. I guess you can transfer edge stitches to your computerized sewing machine that will automatically stitch the edge of your applique? Just wondering how that works, and if the Simplecut software is the type where they just give you limited options unless you purchase more expensive software to use with it.

I also wonder how they use the Artistic Edge machine to make the dandelion pillow in their ad--the parts look so small.

So does anyone out there use this machine for quiltmaking, and if so,how do you like it and what are you making with it?

It looks like it is pretty much the same as a silhouette cameo or brother scanncut in that you can import your own appliques and shapes and cut fabric. There are lots of topics on both machines that would give you the info you need. There are so many cutters on the market you just have to weigh the pros and cons of each. I have a scanncut and love it it has all sorts of quilt blocks in it I haven't even tried. The one feature I do love about my scanncut is that you do not need a computer or software to use it you can use it out of the box without hooking it to a computer. The con's of any of these devices is that you can only cut one layer at a time and you can't do strips. The pros of these machines are that you can cut any shape and you are not restricted by size like die cutter like accuquilt that can cost a lot an add up when purchasing dies. pros are it cuts down in doing intricate applique or any applique. You can use them for paper, vinyl, embroidery, some softwares for embroidery work with some of these machines. I don't know about the janome brand and haven't heard much about it. I have heard most about the silhouette, scanncut, slice, and cricut. The cricut and slice require you to purchase cartridges except for the new cricut and those are pricey as well. They all cut differently to me. I found the cricut way more difficult than my scanncut but haven't tried fabric on the silhouette yet, not sure I will since I love my scanncut
