Any resources to finding quilt retreats, online?
I have been reading posts here about the wonderful times people have at these quilt retreats and would like to see if there are any around me. I tried googling "Quilt Retreats" - but no luck, just posts with quilt retreats.
can anyone throw some thoughts or guidance? thanks! Deb |
Where are you? I just Googled "quilt retreat" and found lots of listings, but you really need to add your state to narrow down the listings. Here's just one website that I found:
http://www.timeforquilting.com/quilting_retreats.html Edit: I do think that what comes up in Google varies widely. Not exactly sure why...... |
It would be better if we knew where you lived, especially the state. I am in DE but our quilt guild has their retreats in Maryland and in the Lancaster, Pa. area.

You could also google quilt shops around you and check the nearest ones' websites. Retreats should be mentioned - often under "activities" or "Events".
My local quilt shop sponsors 3 a year - January, June, and July. |
callie, in our area the QB members from OR and WA meet together every couple of months. After a couple of gatherings we decided to go to the beach for the weekend. We call them retreats. Our first weekend away we had people we hadn't met before and some that new each other. We had so much fun we now go away twice a year. We have quilters that want to share a technique with others so we all learn something new and some of our trips we just eat, sew and laugh a lot. We have met so many nice people and developed some really nice friendships. Now when there's events in our area we get together and car pool or meet up with others at the event. All we did was post on the board our first get together and every time thereafter.
One of the nice things about this is we can keep the price down considerably. Some retreats get quite costly. We all bring something for meals and everything we could possibly need that the house doesn't supply. It really turns out to be a wonderful weekend. |
go to the LQS , they might have a list of retreats. do you have quilt guilds in your area? They have retreats. Our next retreat is Nov. 2,3,4. 2012. We do have tons of fun., they open it to non-members.

I'm in eastern PA... I will add that to my google search.
thanks! |
check out http://delawarequilts.com/Retreat/ Marge runs the best quilt retreats and I do believe there are some openings in upcoming retreats.

Some groups have CAMPS instead of retreats, so also google Quilt Camp instead of just Quilt retreat. Do you have any conference/retreat centers/summer camps near you? Ask them if they host any quilt groups throughout the year. In some cases, the location will sponsor the quilt event and will be able to provide you with information about the next event. In other cases an outside group will just be renting their facilities, but the place may be able to provide you with a name/contact/website for more info.
|
I wanted to add, you can also google the location name and "quilt" - that may provide you with links for retreats/camps as well.
