I am tring to make a purse that I ordered the pattern from the internet and much of the pattern calls for two sided interfacing and when I tried to sew through it with my machine it gummed up the needle and thread, so I stoped for the night and am soo frustrated .Has anyone else come across this problem? Really would like to applique with it but am afraid that over time it would come unfused and not sure where to go as to making this purse as it has many pockets that also calls for fusiable interfacing.PLEASE HELP.

There are different types of interfacing out there. Are you using the one that says sewable or something like that ? My guess is you are using the one that is NOT designed to be sewn after you use it .

If your needle is gumming up it is not the right interfacing to sew through.

You can clean the needle with an alcohol wipe. However it will gum up again if you try to sew through this interfacing again. Chuck it and count it as a lesson learned.

Two sided interfacing? Or fusible interfacing? or Paper backed fusible WEB? What brand name did the pattern call for? For applique work I prefer the lavender printed label Heat n Bond.(Sewable) I also can make do with Stitch Witchery but don't like it as well. I use the lightest weight possible of fusible fleece from Pellon if I am doing purses. It is fusible on one side. Otherwise if I use a fusible it is whatever fits the weight of the fabric I am working with.

feel free to PM and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the info I guess it's back to the store I go.

"Lavender Heat n Bond.(Sewable)"

This what I also use. It worked very well with the SunBonnet Sue's and the Hot Air Balloons.
