Anyone besides me store their cutting mats under their area rugs?

I started doing that a few months ago. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to do that 5 years ago. It's such a simple, free solution to store the cutting mats, takes up no room and the mats lay flat! It works for rulers, too, but those need to be swept under the rug in a low traffic area so that no one puts a chair leg on them and accidentally breaks them.

I like free, take up no room in the house solutions to storage problems!

oh boy, that would bother me. I can just hear it snapping when someone walks on it due to some uneven flooring or something. If you've had no problems, then good for you!!

Your floors are in better condition than mine are!

That implies we have area rugs..which are a dangerous fall risk.

I store mine between my washer and dryer, which are in my kitchen, since I use my kitchen table to cut It is handy :)

Store them? That means they are put away - mine stays on the island in the kitchen - the only time it gets put away is when we have company for dinner!

I store the ones on the main floor behind my china cabinet and it keeps them straight. The ones downstairs in my sewing room are all flat.

I think if I had an area rug, something would be on it. Like a table or something. Good idea though, if you have an area rug with nothing on it.

My largest mat and two oversized squares are stored under my couch! My husband laughed and laughed one day when we moved the couch to do something and there were more of my quilting tools.

I drilled holes in 2 corners of my mats. When I'm not using it, my 11x14 mat hangs on the pegboard along with my rulers. The 36 inch mat hangs on the side of my desk, facing the wall. And I have a huge tabletop mat. When I put it away (which isn't often) it's stored between the wall and a bookshelf. I was going to drill holes and hang it too, but it seems to do just fine back there.
