I have the 770QE and that thing is a monster! Very big, very heavy. I didn't get the embroidery module bc that doesn't interest me.
I can't imagine how big the 990 is and the price? WOW

The price was out of this world....told her that amount of money would make a good down payment on a new top of the line car that I would use more. These machines are probably great if you own a quilting business and can use the expense as a tax write off, but not for me. I'm more of a piecer than an actual quilter and simple quilting patterns work for what I do. Almost dread going back to pick up my machines when they are ready.

@LGJARN52 Your story gave me quite the giggle. My grandmother taught me to sew on her Bernina 1130. I was often at her house using it, or sometimes when she didn't need it she'd let me borrow it. My dear hubby saw how much I used it and how I enjoyed sewing, he said he wanted to buy me a sewing machine. I knew nothing about sewing machine brands and had no idea that Bernina's were the "Cadillac" of sewing machines as someone once said to me later. So I went to the local sewing machine retailer where they had Berninas. Eeekkk!! I told my hubby the prices and he really said to me "I want to buy you a sewing machine, not a car!" We found another place and he bought me a Janome, which has been great. 😊

I was given my grandma's Bernina many, many years later when she could no longer sew. Overall it worked well, but eventually stopped working. The Bernina place said it is either the mother board or some part deep in the machine, both problems cost a ton to fix, so I didn't fix it. I still have it though as it has so many precious memories of my grandmother and me together tied to it.
