Anyone do the SimplyColorful mystery quilt?

It was supposed to be scrappy, but my brain & my nerves don’t do scrappy well. This is about as scrappy as I get. I’m ready to begin quilting mine today and wondered if anyone else had done this mystery.

Thank you, Maria.

I like mystery quilts because they come in bite size pieces. I don’t like mystery quilts because I’m terrible at picking fabric when I know the look, it is even harder using your stash and you don’t know whats going where. I made a couple of adjustments on this one but am happy with the outcome.

yeah, it was a whole lot of white. So I stopped doing the white & started thinking how I could mute the starkness of the contrast. I first tried off white muslin but that wasn’t any better. So, oh my, we had to make a trip to the fabric shop. So much for a stash buster. But as soon as I saw the tan, I knew that was what I needed & truly it did make the quilt. I would not have finished it if I hadn’t found the tan. There was another place in the clues where the directions didn’t quite match the picture. And the picture made for a much smoother looking line. The most interesting thing to me was that there were a lot of new save steps & time hints that weren’t included in the clues but that could have been to keep it at a beginner level.

I’d do another one from her, but with eyes wide open!

I really like your quilt and especially like how you toned down the bigger (to be white) blocks. That really is a lot of white fabric and very bright. I printed off the pattern and I think it will be fun to make a baby quilt out of that pattern in repo 30's fabric. Thanks so much for sharing.

Jordan,

on the diagrams step 2 & step 3, pics 2 & 4 the steps can be combined to make first less seams but most importantly a smoother look. If you use a 6 1/2” X 2 1/2” rectangle and take you focus color square and make the triangle, it is sooo much easier.
