Wow! I have some of those same prints. Thanks for the inspiration. You have some very beautiful quilts there.

WOW. had to post mine to show you. It's my own quilt that I made for myself about 15 years ago. I still use it and am amazed how well it has retained it's color. No fading. It blew me away to see your very similar quilt. ;-) This has been laundered many times. It was my first serious quilt. I've come to really appreciate the quality of Hawaiian fabris compared to Mainland fabrics.

Love it! I think that is still one of my favorite layouts just the plain squares.

The pineapple quilt is my "me" quilt. I told my family they could bury me in it after I died but DH said he is keeping it. I was surprised as he never uses it. I asked him if he would then use it and he just smiled. LOL My pineapple quilt has been every where with me from camping to multiple hotel rooms to the couch and quilt retreats.

Me too Anna! My quilt and my pillow both travel with me everywhere too. BTW I'll have to take pix of the pillow cases I make. It won't be right away because I don't have a digital camera yet. But I love my pillow cases being as bright and flowery as the quilt.

And, like you, I also love plain squares for myself as well.

Have you spent a lot of years in Hawaii> You certainly capture the Aloha spirit.

As a fluke I came across your question "Is anyone else a Hawaiian Fabric Whore?" or something like that (haha!)..sorry if I offended anyone, but that is what my family - OHANA - calls me! I have been collecting Vintage Hawaiian Fabrics for over 30 years now. I started doing Hawaiian Quilting using these fabrics and it takes up a lot of my time (about 6 months or so, to make ONE) but it's worth it. I am just about the only quilter in the family (of my generation) and have been making baby quilts for every newborn since 1985 when my Grandmother died...Because I've come to the time in my life that my siblings and cousins are leaving this world to go into the next, I have started to make lap quilts for the surviving children or grandchildren out of their old Hawaiian Shirts or fabrics from my collection. How do I show you the photos? Mahalo! Robyn

I lived in Hawaii for 15 years. At the time I left I was just starting to quilt. I never thought of using the beautiful Hawaiian fabric for quilts. I wonder if I can get DH to take me back to Hawaii so I can get some beautiful Hawaiian fabric for a quilt? I would have to travel with empty suitcases because I know I would have them full of fabric coming home!!! The quilts you are all showing are beautiful.

In 2007 my sister passed away. It was in February and it was snowing and cold. I just holed myself up for a couple of months and made this memorial quilt using a lot of the 1960's vintage fabrics. By summer time I was just finishing it and people suggested I enter it into the County Fair. I had never entered anything before and was pleased that it won a Blue Ribbon! :)

Where do you buy your materials at? I have a son who lives in Hawaii and thought someday to make a quilt from Hawaiian prints.

Thanks Cheryl
