I feel your pain. I have been staring at my fabric I bought for a bargello for almost a year. I keep trying to rethink my colors. I was just thinking maybe I should do the local shop hop this weekend and try to find some new colors.

I really just wanted to share the absurdity of it all. :) Problem is, I get a picture of how I want it to look, in my head . . . and that picture usually involves fabrics which seemingly don't exist. Just finished going through this with a set of mixed prints, which was a heck of a lot easier than blues! Even still, it was a long time before I was satisfied with the combination. I'm only buying about a yard of each fabric, so it's not quite as bad as it sounds! :p

Kinda reminds me of a now deceased friend. She loved blue. But problem was, once we were in the fabric store, she would pick up so many with a teal look. Ask me if they were blue. When I would tell her they looked kind of teal, she would put them back> I suggested she just get what she liked and not worry about whether it was true blue or not.

Running back and forward as you did is not me BUT I am terrible at purchasing a set of fabrics for a specific project. A few days later doing another project and oh that fabric is just right. And slowly my initial set disappears and when I come to do that project no fabric left off to buy more.
I see so many brilliant ideas on here I must make NOW is the reason It happens. Keep giving me ideas I love it and the. Shop is a 20 minute walk away. So it keeps me fit.

Oh boy, do I EVER identify with you on going back and forth to the store for more fabrics! My quilts end up costing WAY too much because I keep changing out fabrics. I'm making a Tropical Rainbow, and I did that very thing - even cut strips out, so in the scrap bag those go. I'm on the borders now - wanted more colors, so dug through my stash. Still wanted more colors, so off I go to my neighbor's house to look at her stash. What a wonderful quilting neighbor I have...she gave me six or seven pieces for my border...I think I'm just about there...

Lucky you!!! Wish I had a fabric store, within walking distance. My closest one is about 20 - 25 minutes, driving. :(

I TOTALLY GET IT! I've done this too! I tried taking swatches to the store with me, but that can get real unhandy. And I hate cutting into any fabric until I'm sure I want to use it. Now, I go to the paint store first. B4 I buy any fabric, I choose a bunch of their paint color cards that I like together. Then I take that to the LQS and stick to what's on the card (s) as close as I can. I don't get as many fabrics that way, but I also don't spend quite so much $ on gas instead of fabric. :rolleyes: And I end up with colors that really look good together.
