I was thinking of subscribing for 6 months, but I seem to have a lot of intermittent problems with watching their videos. The "remote" they display often doesn't respond and the videos have a tendency to stall and freeze. It's probably because I try to fast-forward through some parts, but I hate the idea of having to sit through everything I am not interested in just to get to the part I want to watch. Their free videos today would have roped me in, but the problems I had watching today are making me wonder if it's worth the money.

Does anyone who is subscribed have problems like this?

craftybear 03-20-2010 08:40 PM

I also had problems watching the video and I have high speed, so I won't be subscribing to it.

nursie76 03-20-2010 08:43 PM

I have problems occasionally, but I love it.

amma 03-20-2010 10:02 PM

I was watching it most of today since it was free... I have high speed and never had it freeze up like it did today... I wondered if it was because of the site being overwhelmed since it was a free day?

Maride 03-20-2010 10:55 PM

I always watch without a problem. Today it froze a little because there was high demand. I actually started watching last night and it didn't freeze once. You can give it another shot later on when the free offer is finished. There is always one show available for free.

LindaR 03-21-2010 05:18 AM

I have dial/up but even when they give a free one for the lesser membership I can't get it or the slideshows. I should be able to get the slide shows but no luck

dakotamaid 03-21-2010 06:09 AM

According to my geeky son sites get overwhelmed when they offer "free" anything. I subscribe to this site cause I'm addicted to Alex Anderson and it takes the place of missing my dish on the road. I've never had a problem watching even thru my data (air) card. So I'm thinking all the problems were because of all the viewers yesterday.

Rose Marie 03-21-2010 07:36 AM

I have high speed and it was bad for that website. Overwhelmed I think.
But I did learn one thing, I did not care for most of the shows so it is not worth subscribing to. Too expensive also.

knlsmith 03-21-2010 08:22 AM

I like www.quilterstv.com everything I've watched has been free. And my hubby gets so tickled watching Eleanor Burns.

AtHomeSewing 03-21-2010 09:15 AM

I agree that the problem was probably that their site was overwhelmed yesterday with the huge number of us that were in there watching for free!

Streaming video can act like this for those whose computers are not on high speed internet connection, i.e. faster than DSL. I tell my mom to click on the 'pause' button and let it load all the way, then she can fast forward or just play it through without it starting and stopping alla time

craftiladi 03-21-2010 10:48 AM

Is it still free today? I couldn't get it to work.

I think they took it off free in the morning, when they came in to work.

Hi, I am on dialup and have pressed the pause button but the site continues to be downloading, .......ad nauseum! I feel like I must be doing something wrong. Does it usually take a long time to load? Should I just walk away and come back after a cup of coffee or wait until the whole house is cleaned?

hcarpanini 03-21-2010 06:32 PM

I had problems with the site because I was using Internet Explorer as my browser. My husband just put on Mozilla Firefox and now I have no problem with videos. Its a pleasure to be able to watch them straight through.

zz-pd 03-21-2010 08:57 PM

I had problems with it stalling to, maybe the high volume of watchers today. I like watching what they have free, just wish it had more free ones. Penny

I think I am going to save my money and just spend more time actually quilting. Wish they'd re-run the Simply Quilts shows on tv. I enjoyed watching those!

nancylouie 03-22-2010 03:08 PM

Yes if you click on pause and wait for your computer to catch up with the show you want to watch and then push play you should have no problems. Sometimes it takes quit a few minutes for the computer to catch up but i usually just walk away and come back later to watch the show. Hope this hleps.

Jshep 03-23-2010 05:36 AM

I too wish they would show more quilting shows on TV. Besides, what are you guys talking about? What site are you going to on the internet that is so slow?

tinwoods 03-23-2010 08:11 AM

The phone co. told me the high speed isn't fast enough. I miss Alex and wish they would change to something that everyone can view.

They have 20% off a 6-month subscription through March 31st. I think they offer one free show a month to everyone.

lfw045 03-23-2010 09:04 AM

http://www.quilterstv.com/

You'll love the quilting videos there and they are free to watch! Enjoy!!

GladGrams 03-23-2010 09:53 AM

Me too! I was sorry I joined. Thanks for the heads up on the other free videos.

Rose Hall 03-23-2010 10:01 AM

does anyone ever watch QNNTV.com???

I thought about joining--I could watch from my laptop in the kitchen while fixing dinner. at least then I would have an excuse as to why dinner was burnt...

I've been a member of TheQuiltShow.com since the onset. I've never had any problems watching any of the shows. I know if you don't have high-speed there is another setting to choose that is supposed to stop the pauses. Good luck.

I've never been able to get any of them...I'd be interested to know what this is

wichypoo 03-24-2010 07:44 AM

I thought it was just me, I can't get the site to work or the QNN either. and I paid $40 for a year subscription to that. Won't be renewing it either.

They have a "Contact Us" section on the website. Have you tried emailing them? I'd want a refund if I had paid that much and couldn't access the videos.

roseOfsharon 03-24-2010 06:39 PM

I subscribe to the site and have not had any problems. But as many have said, maybe high volume of viewers could be the culprit. :)

kitty123 03-24-2010 07:29 PM

I also subscribe to TheQuiltShow and love it. I look forward to a new show every other week and find lots to look at in between. I do have a high speed connection, and have had no problems with the videos. I was a fan of Simply Quilts, and a show with Jinny Beyer is what got me started quilting. I was thrilled to find TheQuiltShow online after it went off the air. I've been visiting this website a bit, and this is my first comment :)
