Can someone please explain what these "fabrics" are? The name of the company is "Keepsake Fabrics and Needle Arts".
I'm trying to understand what the products are. They appear to be like panels that you see in the store but I'm not sure. The "needle arts" part of their name makes me wonder if they are embroideried on some. Here is the link: http://www.keepsakefabrics.com/main.sc Thanks for the help!! |
I have never heard of them. Hopefully someone will have better info for you.

It does appear to me that it is only panels. Hmmmm interesting. I clicked and clicked and it does say panels and that you have your choice of cotton or silk fabric. So I wonder if it isnt like silk screen.

I know....it is confusing to me. Is it somehow better than regular panels? Do we use them just like any other panel? I may have to order one just to see what the heck they are..LOL :D

IMO.....I think they chose the name Keepsake Fabrics because it is Fabrics that are used in quilts and items that you make and keep as Keepsakes.

I don't care since I am mesmerized by your avatar pic of an adorable puppy! How precious.
Now I will follow your link and see what they are! K |
Hello, I believe this lady used to sell her wares on E-Bay. I didn't purchase any from her, rather I bought some similar images on cotton from her competitor. The idea is to find old images with expired Copyrights, then use computer scanner to make a copy of the image that is printed out on fabric, to be made into Quilt Squares or other craft projects. By using a high quality ink, the images are quite durable. Some quilters take family photographs and transfer them onto specially prepared cotton sheets that go through InkJet printers. The process is like this, but using professional equipment, you get a finer pixilation, and more durable inks. You might want to write to the company and ask them questions about their process, whether the end product can be drycleaned or machine washed, etc. Start a dialogue to obtain more information directly.

They are reproductions used to embellish.

I thought some of them were really very nice, let us know if you decide to get a panel.

They're like a modern day version of the cigarette fabric collectibles - but reproductions.
I remember her from eBay. She found herself a very nice little niche in the market. I never bought from her as the last thing I needed was something new to collect. But I've always loved the way people have incorporated them into crazy quilts. Panel is sort of a strange term to use - I always think of that as relatively large. These are actually quite small - photo size (3"x5" to 5"x8" ). Hmmm, maybe I'll pick up one or two. But that's it. ;-) Here's some history if you're interested: http://www.fabrics.net/LauretteTobaccoQuilts.asp |
