Your creating beautiful WORKS of happiness for kids

Don't let someone's thoughtless comments impact you that much. You do a wonderful thing by giving your time and skills to making charity quilts. You should feel good about that. Smile and know that your quilts bring comfort to people in need!! That is as worthwhile as any job out there!!

I would have told her that I don't have to work and enjoy being retired at home!!

Hey you should have just said "Yep some have to work and some get to quilt" I think she was feeling sorry for herself..she HAS to work...some people HAVE to work because they over extended themselves and are in debt up to their eyeballs...my DH & I live on a limited income..we just don't have or do anything fancy...but we are happy and I can quilt when I want to....don't let her comment bother you...you know that you are doing a service that makes others happy and gives them comfort..that is all that is important..Keep on Stitchin' Linda B.

I LOVE this!! Your words are perfect!

My face still stings after that. Felt like I was slapped.

If I could work, I would !! Was really nice and told this woman, "OK, but I do have time. "

hmmm.. in the dumps today.

Do not let that bother you. You are doing a blessed thing that others cannot do. Think of all those children who would not have a comfort quilt without YOU!!!! You are touching so many lives. Feel good about being where you are today. If God meant for you to have a job, He would do something about it. Right now He wants you right where you are!!!!

 Yah what they said.... could if she wanted to just making an excuse !!! Did both when full time. Doubt she thought before opening the mouth.... hang in there!! Keep up the Good work!! :)

You could always say, "Oh, so you work outside the home, good for you!"[/quote]
-------------------------------
And then add "I'm so bored at home I spend a great deal of my time standing on my head, trying to look in the mirror to see if my wrinkles have gone away."

I did that once, the look on the lady's face after it penetrated through the mists in her brain was priceless!!!!

shame on her!

don't let her negativity take anything away from the wonderful work you are doing!!! caring for the sick is one of the most special kinds of work there is...

I go to work so I get a chance to just sit on my butt for awhile. I quilt, I sew, I do volunteer work, I am team mom, wife, grandma, sister, aunt, and a couple other things. Just because you work, doesn't mean that you can't help others. I say BLAAA to her!
My husband has been off work for over two years, he would love to be back to work, he also devotes time to the community.
