Anyone gone to Ricky Tims Luminaria?
 

Hopefully I have the name of this correct, but has anyone gone to the new Ricky Tims Luminarium? I'm very interested in it and just found out that it will be in Kansas City in March--almost the same drive that I did commuting to work for 16 years, so very doable. This year I used his Kool Kaliedscopes for a quilt and also attempted a convergence quilt (but lacked complete instructions so it's a bit "off") and really like how he doesn't give a set pattern, but instead gives you a technique to create something that becomes totally your own.
So 2 questions if you've been: 1) was it worth the $$
2) am I understanding it correctly that for the 2 days, you get all 8 seminars?

I went to his seminar several years ago. I don't know if he runs it the same now. Ours was 3 days, 7 sessions. One evening he did a concert, that was the 7th session. It was excellent! He gave you a book, his talks followed it, and stayed right to the 3 hour time. My friend and I learned a lot. Yes, it was costly, but divided by 7, you got a lot.

I went to his seminar a few years ago -- with Ricky, Alex, and Libby Lehman. It was the coolest thing I've done and well worth the money for me. Would do it again if he ever does another one near me.

I went to the seminar in Modesto a few years ago. He had Alex Anderson and one of the Australian quilters join him. The nice thing is that all the materials are provided and you only need to take supplemental notes. There is a lot of information given and lot of humor. The bad thing is that he has a booth with his yummy hand-died fabrics and it can get expensive. (Speaking from experience here)

I have never been to one of his workshops. I would sign up in a second if he was close enough to commute. I love his work. I just looked at it. For as many classes as it includes the price isn't that high.
I have one of his convergence quilts on my design wall right now. I am doing it in light batiks for a background for some appliqué.

I went to the first one in Houston in February. Well worth the time and money. I learned So Much. Most of all just try something. Did a machine applique project after taking his seminar. I was so pleased with the way it turned out. He is accessible, funny, and knowledgeable. Had a fabulous time and now want to go to his week long workshop in CO but the price is daunting for me.
