Now that's a great idea. I walked by some shades the other day and "remembered when that's all we ever used " LOL. I just might go back and pick a couple up..I have the shelf, fabric and a screwdriver..I'm there!

WOW. This is awesome!!

It's an old fashioned roller shade with flannel glued on. The valance is built and the roller shade is attached to that. I bought a 6 foot roller shade the other day at Habitit for the Humanity resale store for $10.00. I have to get the flannel, then DH will put it up. I'm not worried about the valance part.

How wide is the shade?

Can you roll the thing up with your pieces and actually have them stay in place? For my design wall, I pinned a flannel backed vinyl table to a spring-loaded curtain rod hung in the doorway of my sliding closet doors, but it is not so great for getting into the closet! This would be ideal!

UglyCook! That is a fabulous idea. I will get my husband to look at your picture (thanks for posting it). right now I use the flannel side of a vinyl tablecloth - it's anchored to the wall with a long white board across the top. I think it's time for me to get a little Classier. lol...

I was reading all these neat ideas, then looked over at my closet
door in this room. I'm thinking it would be easy to simply staple
flannel or something like that to a frame, then screw it to the inside of the door and let it stay there. Should be easy to do.

what brilliant ideas - am tempted to go with the roller blind and attaching flannel onto it - but, what would you use to attach the flannel without costing too much?

I like the window shade idea from ugly cook (she doesn't look it). I am sure it would be cheaper.

I think this is way better than the one they sell. The one for sale has a shelf on top (way outta my reach lol) but it's pricey and it's only 60" wide. Not near wide enough. You can get window shades 80" or 90" wide.
