I have the qe4. I would re thread it as suggested. If you need to adjust the tension make sure your needle is in the up position when doing it.

I have a qe 4 and the tension may have to be manipulated for your thread. Setting the tension is set by pressing the settings button (the one with the little tools icon). I would suggest meeting with your dealer or taking a class. The qe4 is very different from the older Pfaffs. I love Pfaff sewing machines and this one is wonderful too, but it does take some getting use to. I spent at least 2 hours at my dealer learning how to use it. I too have a manual and if I can lookup anything for you, I would be glad to.
