We went to the Creative Festival here today, and DH bought me a QuiltCut2! He's such a sweetie :) We've gotten it put together, and I can't wait to break it in. I'm hoping it will help me cut more accurately, especially strips since I'm doing a lot of Eleanor Burns patterns right now. I could sure use any tips or tricks!
Here's the website: http://www.quiltcut.com/ |
OMG...YOU LUCKY LADY...this looks fantastic...awww I wish I had one
|
I got mine four years ago and use it all the time for cutting multiple strips and squares. You will love it.

Your husband is such a sweetie! I checked out the video and that is an awesome tool! I am

I had the original one and just recently upgraded to the 2. I love it. I've had mine about 5 years. It started wearing and the fabric was looking like I was tearing it instead of cutting. I sure like the netural color of the upgrade. Mine was green. I can't imagine cutting without it. The first quilt I ever did I cut on my kitchen counter. Never again. No one will ever regret purchasing this cutter. There are not many things I'm sold on but if I had to I could go door to door with a testimonal about this cutter and one other thing, my Dyson.

That looks really cool!

I have the original Quick Cut and I love it...
I have only had to replace the cutting mat. It sure helped me be more accurate in strips, triangles and squares... some of the best dollars I have invested into my quilting hobby. I think I bought it in 2002...somewhere in there... Kirsten |
Hmmm. That would have made a nice mother's day gift -- if it's not too pricey ...
But, alas, mother's day has been and gone. But, it's never too late ... |

Wow that looks great. Thought I would have a look and checked out the price..... you are one lucky lady. needless to say I wont be getting one.
It will make life so much easier for you. Good Luck Elle |
I felt the same way about the price Elle - we got a bit of a break because we bought it at a show, but still...I'm the one who makes it my life's work to make every bit of money scream for mercy cuz I try to stretch it so far  DH and I talked it over, and his points were good ones. If I add up the amount I have invested in rulers, cutters, etc all bought in an attempt to cut accurately I've easily exceeded the amount the system cost. He figures it'll pay for itself over time by saving me from badly cut fabric. (Personally, I think he wanted it because it looks like a cool shop tool  but I love him anyway!)
I cut some strips from a fat quarter last night with it. I'm in love; they were perfectly straight! |
Awe that is so nice. Yes you have a point, it will probably be saving you money in the long run. Lets know how you get on

Izy you took the words right out of my mouth. What a great gizmo.
I might actually get all those dang triangles and squares correct. I am definately   Elle |
I love that tool. I guess I need to save up for one. I am not perfect with my cutting.

I have wanted to buy one! How do you like it? Does it really cut more than one layer???
Thanks Renae |
I played some more with this yesterday, and I have to say I'm still impressed. I cut 4 layers without a problem; I can see where it's feasible to stack more layers than that. You use whatever rotary cutter you like with it, so as long as the blade is sharp the additional layers aren't a problem. The Speed Gauge sits 1/2" above the cutting surface, so to check your strip width it actually has to move downwards on just a few layers of fabric.
I'm trying to be good and finish the quilt I'm working on before I cut out another one, but it's getting harder and harder to be good.... |
What a neat tool, never heard of it before...... I wonder if it is in my future (where's that darn sugar daddy when you need him - never had one but boy wouldn't he come in handy now!)

What a neat tool! I'm a graphic designer (old and new school) and I use my straight edge on my drafting table to cut fabric strips. About the same process as this tool. It works great.

Quilting Chic,,,
You are going to love this... I have the original Quilt Cut and I think as a new quilter (several years ago) this was one of my most expensive investments. I have had mine for at least 5/6 years and Have yet to replace the mat. Ok, maybe once just because... I don't cut on anything else and I like it cuz I can bring it out to watch TV with the hubby and cut accurate on the coffee table and visit with the hubby... I don't think I would give mine up. K |

Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking what you think of the Quiltcut2? Does it really work? Is it easy to use? Does it cut accurately? I'd really appreciate your reply. Thanks so much.
