anyone have a sewslip?
 

I love to FMQ but it was getting harder to push the fabric into my DSM.. after reading a lot about the Suprene slider I thought I would look into getting one till I seen the price 49.00 at Amazon, which was a little high. After looking into this I found different brand call Sewslip which is half the price of the supreme slider, anyone know anything about this one, will it hold up and last?

after my shoulder injury I need to do something that will make FMQ easier on my arms, shoulders and back..Would love to hear from anyone that has a sewslip mat..Thanks

I have tried several options, supreme slider, big sheet of clear vinyl, oven mat, etc. but not the Sewslip. I didn't really like any of them. I ended up sewing them to the quilt, no matter how I taped them down. Maybe this one works better.

Stitchnripper this one seems like it will stay down on the machine bed, it is really sticky on the back so don't think I will need to use any tape to hold it down to the machine..hope it works..

When I FMQ...there no "pushing" as you describe...it should all be very easy to move around...I am wondering if you aren't gathering your quilt sandwich in such a way that it it easy to move? You should have a very clear area, no matter what machine, or what your set up, as far tables, etc...when you get you fabric sandwich under your needle, you need to make sure that the rest of the quilt isn't hanging up on something..you should be able to move your quilt under the needle very easily. I don't think any "gizmo" will help..you need to really get your area ready..that will help more than anything.

I would wax you machine bed and the tables you have around the machine for holding the quilt. This will make it glide.

I do similarly as Viquilt...I use a wax product on my Sew Steady work space that helps with the maneuverability of the quilt.

You can also purchase a can of Silicone spray and use it on your machine bed to help the sliding issue

Maybe you need "The Weightless Quilter". It is set of eight flexible poles that connect to a 3 foot square floor stand. The quilt is connected to the poles and that holds it out of the way. I saw it at the Madison Quilt Show in September.
