anyone made patches of life by Elanor burns???
 

the directions are to sew the vertical rows and not cut the threads, well I found it really hard to handle all the blocks hooked together like that. My rows are 16 blocks vertical and 11 rows horizontal. they are 6" finished blocks just wondering if anyone had a technique or hint to help

I haven’t seen that one. I would sew the blocks into smaller units or quads. Sew together 4 blocks across and three down.

The last row would be 4 blocks and two down. Then sew those units together.

Does this pattern only got sewn together in one way? That may be the reason not to cut threads. The blocks will be in order on each row. Less likely to turn them wrong.

It sounds as if they are using webbing to keep the blocks in the correct order while assembling the quilt top. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here is a video tute.

Webbing is very confusing to me. I sewed the blocks in rows and then joined the rows. I paper pieced the pointy blocks. Much easier then cutting all those pieces.

I learned that method from Eleanor a long time ago and that’s how I put all my blocks together regardless of whose pattern it is. I guess it doesn’t work for everyone though

That method didn't work for me either. Do what works for you.

I've used the webbing method a time or too, and the key is how you lay out your pieces to sew in the first place. If they are not sewn in the correct order, the webbing won't work.
