Sometimes the blocks are not the right size?? I seen the rail cars done in a quilt show and even won a ribbon.

I'm making it for my son who is an engineer for the BNSF and on the front of the engine, I put the old Santa Fe emblem on it.

I love the bottom right one in the pictures above. I would love to see that done without the cross in it, just the contrast of the diamond in the center of the same fabric looks cool.

Read a blog recently about the slave/underground quilts and there might be a fallacy there....IF you neighbor left out quilts in the dead of winter it might raise suspicions of "why".....makes for great fiction reading. I personally want to follow up with the history of these quilts. Since I'm new at quilting and not a history, nor civil war history buff, I'm curious.

NOW, I'll add HOBO quilts to my list of stuff to read/learn about. Thanks for the incentive.....
