I bought one just for this purpose and still haven't tried it.

I've used it for letters and had no problems. I used the iron on fusible web. Ironed it on to the whole piece of fabric. It's been a while since I've used it. I highly recommend looking up the you tube videos! I had such a huge learnig curve wish I would've thought to check there!

I don't have finished projects yet, but have used it to cut out some letters. I starched the heck out of the fabric, then ironed on heat and bond lite ( so you can sew through the fabric when done. If you are not going to sew it down, you could use the heat n bond heavy. You have to, or I did anyway, make sure the fabric sheet is really stuck down to the cutting mat.

I haven't tried to cut anything too detailed yet.

I'd search YouTube, there is a lot of info there on it.

Oh my - I would have never thought of that - THANK you for that fabulous idea! I have a Cricut and wanted to do some applique with letters.
