Does anyone here have the Q SNAP 17 X 17 QUILT FRAME?
I saw it at http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/Item--i-SF-17 but I have no experience at all (yet) with hand quilting so would love to know if you would recommend it. Depending on what you say I might add it to my next Hancock's order. Many thanks in advance. |
I have a 11x17 frame that I use in crazy quilting, I wish I had gotten one a bit smaller. Funny, I love CQ by hand but not regular quilting. That is a great price. Here is their website. http://www.qsnap.com/all_products.asp

I use the 17"square for hand quilting my larger quilts (I'm using it at the moment) I use the rectangle shape for wallhangings just because they're not always wide enough for the larger frame.

I love using the 17 inch square I have the big table but find I get a sore back so I just have to move the square a lot more often, but it works for me well worth every penny

I have the Q Snap and it works very well for me. I like that it snaps apart and is easy to store. I have both the 17 x 17 and a smaller size so I can combine the pieces to make a rectangle when needed.

I use a q snap but only for small things. I think it's only about 12 x 15 or so.

I have afew, 11x11, 17x17, the floor frame (which I rarely use, gives me a sore back) and I love my hand held ones. I use them for embroidery and handquilting. Well worth the money. You can also make different sizes with them ie 11x11 & 17x17 makes a 11x17.

I bought one at an auction and have brought it with me for the winter but have not used it yet. I hope I like it.

Thank you all for your comments.
You've got me thinking that maybe 17 by 17 is a little on the side of too large. I might think on this one a little longer. It *is* a good price at Hancock's right now. All I probably need is a free shipping offer and the decision will be made. I've been told by others on the board that Hancock's have a free shipping offer about four times a year. Here's hoping they do it soon. |
i have the Q snap floor frame. if i hand quilted anymore, i'd surely use it!

it really depends on you; and your size too, a petite person may have trouble using one that large, some people prefer smaller, some larger, have you done embroidery using hoops? did you use large or little hoops? you should pick up the size you think you can comfortably hold on your lap and gives you the amount of (work-space) and see if it works for you, you may also find that different size hoops work better for different projects. i think i have about 8 different sizes and i use them all.
