I was wondering if anyone has used Texture Magic fabric for a quilting project. It looks like a cool product to use in a quilt, but I'm half skeptical at the same time because obviously a company is supposed to make a product look good so you'll buy it.

I've never heard of it.

If you go under the video tab you can see how they have used it in different fabrics.

I just bought some and haven't used it..have seen it in a demo though..can tell you that your fabric shrinks about 30%..so you have to allow for shrinkage...it's neat..I've seen it used in a flag..I've thought about flowers...it will tell you in the directions about shrinkage...also I think you have to use a steam iron..you steam it but do not press it if I remember right...hope I have helped you some...

I have tried it and love it!! It is a lot of fun, so is the thread that shrinks with heat. :D:D:D

They got shrinking thread too?

I really liked the one video where she showed the jacket that she had with accents of textured fabric and they had used a matching metallic thread for it.

i have seen some nice things made with it..but very expensive! i would think flowers would be awesome!

pvquilter 12-08-2010 02:59 PM

I have used it on a purse. Need a really hot iron tho for it to shrink up.

A lightbulb just went off in my head.

Wouldn't it be cool to use Texture Magic fabric on fabric for the centers of the squares in a Cathedral quilt?

The steam is what makes it shrink.

Neat product, but very pricey. It makes a really cute purse though!

I bought a purse at a craft show for my Mom...they made the flap with the texture magic and it is really cool looking.
I want to get some and try a few projects of my own.

I saw this stuff before and I thought it looked really cool. But I figured that as with most of the stuff I love it's probably way too advanced for me. But I would love to get some and try it! I can just picture a baby quilt made with chenielle sp? and all smushed up like that!

I recently bought some but haven't tried it. I watched a demo and thought there are lots of possibilties here to create interesting textures for a variety of projects. The downside is that it is expensive - I wouldn't be able to buy it for a big project.

charismah 12-08-2010 09:46 PM

Yes..I have used..love it! But I try not touse alot because of the expense...

I made a wall hanging called Hanging of the Lights. It is penguins hanging Christmas lights. I used Texture Magic for the tummys on the penguins and it came out so cute. It is expensive but I only used it for small projects.
