If you have used one of these, do you like it, does it work? Is it worth the $?

I just like the name :)

I use cone thread and a thread stand - save an empty cone or three and make your own 'deelybob thingy'....

 Seems like cones are kind of big too be sitting on top of the machine. If I was going to use one, I'd get one of the metal stands. A pretty one: www.connectingthreads.com/tools/Sara_ConeFlower_Thread_Holder__D71253.html A basic one: www.superiorthreads.com/shop/product/thread-standcone-holder I've also heard of people just setting it in a jar (big enough for it to sit down it) behind the machine. |
Is totally useless. I had one years ago and was never able to use it. My son had a blast with it. Each piece of plastic is smaller than the previous one while you pull it up, and when I put a spool on it it would collapse again.

I do not need anything fancy, just handy to use. Read some where that quilt makers are using the bottom part of containers of 50 or 100 C Ds. It has a spindle to hold the cone thread and it is free. Always trying to recycle.

my son made me one out of a dollar tree paper towel holder |
That is really cool. I love it when people come up with clever substitutes for quilting notions. Your son did a great job! Thanks for posting the picture.
