Has anyone done this quilt? if so, how many cores did you cut? The pattern on quilterscache said "about a million"lol.

There is a pattern on the accuquilt site. Try googling free apple core accuquilt. I know I've seen it

The number .... depends on how large of a quilt you want!
And which size of apple cores you are using.

I made a table runner. I cut the cores using a plastic template that I had made from the paper pattern ... a small rotary cutter zipped around it, and I had them cut out in no time.

Curves scare me too. I love it!! It would take me a while to cut all of those small pieces out.

I didn't find it too hard to sew. It was not something to do, if I didn't have patience! And when I did it, I did actually find it somewhat relaxing ... I often folded to find the centres and sometimes the 1/4 points to match together. And then pinned it. The curve was not so severe to make it a difficult one to stitch. I had very few where reverse stitching was required!! :)

That is nice to know QuiltE, one of these days I might get one for my studio and try it out.

if you have not done curved piecing yet an apple core is a good beginning- because it is not a 'severe' curve. give them a try-
as for how many----it certainly depends on how large your pieces are-and how big you want your quilt to be--if you look at the table runner above- it has 40 apple cores-
it is a good (on going-scrappy) project---cut a bunch- sew them together---cut a bunch more- instead of trying to cut a (million) all at once :)
some projects it is easier-and makes more sense to cut as you need to-just start with an assortment- put them together---also-if you have not done these before- it would be better to start with (maybe 40 like above) and put them together---if you decide you hate sewing them you have not commited yourself--and are not (stuck) with a million pieces you may never use- better to start with a few-that you could make into a tablerunner- or a placemat- or tote bag---instead of cutting enough for a king sized quilt then hating the process!
