I LOVE hand applique and do a lot of it. This one is for a 3-year-old daughter of a former colleague. The pattern is called "Ballerina Bears" by Old Farmhouse Quilts. I changed the border too. I have googled the company name but find nothing...sorry.

Coloring In books are a great source of patterns, you can also google and get free coloring in sheets. My favorite patterns for applique seem to be for children and the two that appeal to me are MoonShine http://www.moonshine-designs.com and Kids Quilts http://www.kidsquilts.com for more mature patterns I like smee designs http://www.smeedesigns.com Moonshine and Smee are Australian Companies and Kids Quilts is a New Zealand Company.

I love this pattern and bought it a couple of years ago. I'm gradually adding the "perfect" fabrics to a container along with the pattern. And just like a coloring book you can copy pictures on material then PAINT them. I did just one and then washed it and put it in the dryer came out beautiful. You can also add embroidery. Very relaxing and something you can do with your children/grandchildren. Let them paint pictures then you can put the blocks together for them. They can even sign the pictures. Save any white cardboard and use it behind the painted quilt block and put it in a frame for mom or grandma.

You can also check your local library for applique books. Also Dover books are really inexpensive and have a lot of books that you can use for applique. And as someone else said, if you google it you will find more patterns than you can shake a stick at.
