There's also cookie cutters, the foam and wooden shapes at craft stores. Sewing patterns that have appliques on them (e.g., a girl's t-shirt with a pony on it). Check all craft patterns (I see Free patterns for crafts - www.crazyforcrafts.com - at the bottom of the page as I type). Check stained glass window patterns, wood cutout patterns.

What about circles? Celtic images would applique well, and tile patterns would too. There is a prize winning pattern out there based on mexican plates I think. P3 is a lady who is makeing baltimore type blocks for each state. Texas has the Alamo, they usually have the state bird or flower, so sorry about that, but it is a variety of images, tall ships, steam engines etc. There is another book out there that does variations on hearts. You could hit amazon and google Applique and see if there is anything that strikes your fancy.

Thanks in advance for all your help. :)

Laser-cut applique is the way to go!!! Stitchin' Heaven has some really fun laser cut (and already fused) applique kits. Quilt Diva is super cute, Holiday Houses is AWESOME, Stitchin' Addiction is a new one that I plan to complete soon! Lots of fun options besides your typical nature or flowers.
