I have noticed that many applique patterns have narrow pieces crossing each other. How do you do these :?: There is one of a bee on a flower...need advice :D

Ruth, you can layer then up, then trim away the backing fabric leaving 1/4" seam allowances to remove the bulk if you wish to. When using fusible you only need to cut out the part of the shape that will show PLUS an 1/8" to tuck under the adjacent piece, does that make any sense lol??

When I did the celtic flower in my sampler quilt, I made my own bias, is this what you mean by narrow??

Just as Izy says...I have some leaves tucked under stems right now and it is a hand applique..I did not snip any off the underneath. Depends on how thick, your preferences, and what kind of applique you are doing...make sense?? There are many different applique methods..in fact, I just did one on my machine using a hem stitch and I had eyeballs over eyes, on top of the cat's head...(:0)) I did not snip any of my underneath..just let it layer. Hope this helps...Skeat

like the rest, I just stitch the edges on the top layer. It will hold in place anything beneath it. Be real careful if you trim from below - I have had a few OOPS moments from scissors going through extra layers onto the top.
