I am new at applique. I understand the different types. What I need help with is what do you call the cloth/sheet that you lay on top of picture (can see thru ex. flower), you then position your pieces, iron, and transfer (ex. flower) to your cloth that you will then do your applique work on? Thank you for your help.

It's called the applique pressing sheet, I also think they have one called the goddess sheet

Are you talking about a pressing sheet? I have this one. It is a Fons and Porter and I got it at Joann's with a coupon.

I use the applique pressing sheet from Bear Thread Designs under the applique. It is not see-through. On top I use a sheet of clear vinyl (purchased by the yard from WalMart's fabric department) onto which I have traced the applique pattern with a permanent marker. The purpose of this sheet is to allow (relatively) precise placement of the applique pieces. It's removed before pressing, of course.

You can use a sheet of parchment, available at any grocery store. It is see-through and you can press your pieces on it. Fusibles will not stick to it and your iron will not burn it.

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about. People use fusible webbing to attach the fabric to the fabric background. You put the fusible webbing over the picture you want to applique (flower) and draw around it and then cut around the fusible webbing (leave space between pieces and don't cut it on the line, leave space when you cut the webbing out) and iron it onto the backside of the fabric you want to fuse and then cut out the flower on the drawn line and tear off the paper and iron the fused fabric onto the fabric background. It has instructions on the sheets.

Are you talking about an over lay. A clear piece of plastic that has your design drawn on it. Then you lay your block under it for placement of your applique pattern pieces.
