applique window help? Windowless wallhanging??
Hello I have a pattern that is an old Italian village and I would love to do it ... my problem... Well there are a lot of windows in the village and I am not doing well, I tried to cut small rectangles and squares and top stitch them and zig zag. They did not look polished enough for me- by that I mean they looked TACKY.
I then thought that I would make slits with a underlay so that I could slit the fabric, press it back and have the black window pane behind it, Nah still didn't look good. So I am turning to you , perhaps you have a great method for me, this is to be a rustic village and the zig zag was just too heavy for it, Perhaps someone has some advice or tips, that don't involve a stiff drink? Thank you so much jane |
Pen and ink? Fabric paint?

Maybe a lighter weight thread for the zig zag.
|
Straight stitch (small stitch length) the edges with mono-filiment (clear or smoke) thread.
I did that with a landscape quilt and it worked wonderfully. |
Paper piecing the window.part of the houses. Start with window as 1 then the side wall and top and other side then bottom almost a log cabin plan.
Only other idea to use futile stuff and then just quilt over with area with roses or suitable stitch. |
Thank you so much for your suggestion. They are all great and I am going to make a sample of each one to see what works best for my project. Once again thank you for your help and your time, it is greatly appreciated!!
