Aqs

How many of you have joined the AQS? Do you enjoy being a member? I no longer subscribe to any of the quilting magazines but I'm thinking this might be a good thing.

I used to subscribe to AQS. It's a really nice magazine. However, most of their quilts and techniques are way beyond my skill level and I'm just not interested in going there in my own life. If you are really interested in art quilts and advanced techniques, AQS might be worthwhile. I used to buy books through my AQS membership but, now that I have a huge library of books and Amazon at my disposal, I don't do that anymore either.

I've been an AQS member for years (10+) the only membership I always keep up with. I enjoy the savings, the magazine, the show opportunities, the Joanne's discount, the info, free projects, ... So many benefits

I'd say go for it! :)

I think membership is only $20 and I did join when my Guild no longer was joining--just for the book discount.

I have been keeping my membership up. I recently tried some of the iquilt classes (AQS members get a discount) and found them excellent, possibly even better than craftsy.

Edited to say - Prism, I doubt that anything is beyond your skill level.

I love it. It's the only magazine I get & I read it cover to cover every month. I love the techniques they have in the magazine. I enjoy the 10% VIP discount I get on regular & sale items at JAF, plus the extra discounts I get on AQS iQuilt classes online. So many beautiful quilts in this month's edition of AQ magazine -- it's truly amazing to see the intricate work that other quilters are producing!

It's worth buying for the magazine alone. You really can't get a quilt magazine subscription for $20 anymore. I use the JAF 10% discount for notions, rulers, interfacing for t-shirt quilts, and books (when they're already on sale), as I'm not fond of their fabrics.

I joined a long time ago and I've been keeping my membership active too. Even though the quilt photos from the shows are way beyond my level of patience for replicating, I find them inspiring. All of my other magazines have expired and I'm not renewing any of those.

If you like going to quilt shows to see the quilts (as opposed to going just for the vendors) you will like being a member of AQS. They publish great photos of all the quiltweek winners and I love looking at the innovative and creative designs some quilters come up with. I also enjoy shopping AQS and getting the discount on notions and sometimes they do have fabrics that I like. Also you do get a discount price for admission to quiltweek shows. I haven't tried any of the IQuilt classes but the caliber of instructors they have can't be beat. I keep my membership up on this particular group.
