I am in over my head. Back in November, I moved most of my sewing stuff from a little loft area to a spare bedroom that was full of stuff.
I impulsively signed up for a tote making class happening on Sat. and need to quilt some fabric before hand. Can't find my walking foot or for that matter my darning foot for free motion. Can find too much fabric (yes, I am convinced I have too much at this point). Oh well, thanks for 'listening'. I'm going back up, wish me luck... lots2do |
Good luck! :D
|
I feel your pain.. just think soon you will have everything exactly where you want it!
|
Good luck finding the missing walking foot. My walking foot recently "died" and I had to get a replacement. It is really nice to use one that works properly. So, I took the old quilting guide from my old walking foot (that only fits on the walking foot on the right) and took it to work with me. (I work at a vocational school.) One of our instructors converted the old right-hand guide into a left-hand guide that will really help me when quilting a large quilt that has to be rolled up from the right. Does any of this rambling make sense to anyone???? I'm happy, anyway.

Oh, thank you all!
Your warm wishes must have helped. I found it! There was a lot of inner negative talk going on, though. This has to be my incentive to: 1. finish organizing everything so this doesn't happen again and 2. go on a fabric diet, so to speak, until I use some of this stuff up! Take care, lots2do (but now, too pooped to do it) PS lynordyke, good thinking, I have a few slant shanked feet around here - wonder if someone could adapt them for low shanked machines |
My DH is pretty crafty when it comes to metal fabrication... I can't understand why he looked at me like I'm crazy when I showed him my 1/4" foot and my walking foot and said, make me something that does both. tee hee
|
Glad you found where your walking foot "walked" off to! Good luck in class on Saturday and be sure to show us pictures. :D
|
Well now lets see the finished product....... the tote that is....... glad you found your walking foot. Hate when that happens..... seems like I spend the better part of my life looking for things tooooooooooo
|
I'll try to post after the class. Hopefully, I'll get it mostly done then. I tend to be the slowest student in class, sometimes!
lots2do |
My sewing room has had adult "children" move back into it 3 times in the last 10 years. I finally have the room back but still have not found all of my stuff! I keep re-buying. Financially bad, but a heck of a lot less stress then spending precious sewing time "looking"...
|
Good luck!!! Sometimes what we love overwhelms us!!! As in, too much fabric!! :P
|
(((HUGS))) lots of deep breaths :D:D:D
Everything will settle into it's own place eventually :D:D:D I look forward to seeing your new project!!! |
Glad you found your foot :!: Make sure you post a picture of your Tote :!: :P

Being overtired didn't help me today. I was woken up at midnight by a police officer at my front door with an very apologetic DS. Seems some of his friends were drinking in a car (not the driver, not his best friend or himself) and they were pulled over. All underage. After the serious talk we all had, I tossed and turned all night. DH handled it much better than I, it seems. I have severe doubts about how I will handle the empty nest. (But I have plenty of fabric to line it with)! :)
Thanks again for the kind remarks, lots2do |

This is definitely the place to vent. Most of us have experienced what you're going thru or we're next in line to experience it. Off to quilting you go!
|
Thanks again, this has been a much better day. (And, I found my darning foot)...:)

Quilter7x, can you please tell me about that gorgeous quilt design by your name on this page next to this quote? I absolutely love it and think it would be great made into a pillow if not too big. THANKS!

Good luck. But you can never have too much fabric.

The blue, silver and white one is a table topper, around 24-30" square. You could easily make larger half square triangles to enlarge the pattern. |
LOL. I allow myself a certain time period to look for something. If I can't find it, I get another one! Good luck! (Would you like my address for some of that fabric?)
|
Please define "fabric diet". In my case I have been on a fabric diet for the past 25+ years and proud of the results! Whether I use it all or not, it is mine, and I love every thread of it.
|
THANK YOU SO MUCH, QUILTER7X!

My class went really, really well. I think I'll wait and post a picture after I make the tote handles...last thing to do!
Also, think I might be making friends with my walking foot...finally. And so much for the fabric diet, bought a yard of great shamrock fabric and two 1/2 yard pieces to coordinate. Might do some strip tube blocks with it. Have a good one, lots2do |
I think you and i are on the same diet. I love to love every thread of mine WHIPPERWILL
|
Ah...yes, I think that would be the way I seem to diet. With fabric and with food.
:) |
Glad to hear your class went well. One tip on doing your handles is not to use a straight stitch to sew them together because the stitching can easily break. Use a 3 step zig zag or a stretch stitch to sew from one end of the handle to the other.

Nice to see you are sewing up totes - can't have too many, lol.
I just donated three purses to the Talent Auction at our church. A fun project that you start with the purchased single metal frame and handles. Then make a simple purse (cover) that slides onto the rods and voila! you have a purse. Easy then to make several in different styles and colors. |
This was my first. It's a Cut it Up Sisters bag. The technique that you use can be adapted to other uses. We were given a table top mat that uses the same plastic template that would make a great Christmas gift with a matching candle for the middle.
I've never been a Smother Mother but I am having a little bit of trouble with the flying from the nest stuff. Good thing I have an interesting hobby to keep me occupied! |
I like the pattern that you used for your picture, what is the name of it and where could I get it. thanks
|

Quilter7X: I too love the pattern you use and would love to have a copy of it so I can make it. Would you please tell me the name so I can find the pattern and make it.
|
The pattern in my avi is called Center Stage put out by Pieced Tree Patterns. It's a little laminated card, around 3 1/2" X 5 1/2" with the pattern picture on one side and the directions on the other side. The patterns are simple, mostly table runners. I think they're around $3.50 each.
Hope you make some, they make great gifts! :D |
Keep looking. I'm sure you will find them somewhere.
|
Thanks, I did!
