Well I decided to try the quilt as you go technique on a lap quilt I was making for my mother in law.

The blocks worked up quick and easy. And the rows were OK, but when I assembled the first two rows together, I just did not like.

I did not like the way the quilt laid. It just did not sit on the lap like a quilt. So, after a primal scream and in utter frustation, I started ripping out last night.

I guess I am too much a tradionalist. I think the method works well for a wall hanging, but for a lap quilt it just is not comfy.

Back to the darwing board!!

I haven't tried that method but was thinking of doing so as it seemed like you could do a little at a time and cut down on your stash at the same time.

As I learned in my Tuesday class, get "froggin" rip-it, rip-it.

What quilt as you go method did you use? Fun and Done and Cotton theory makes a quilt too rigid for me, like you described. I use Georgia Bonesteel's method and can't tell a difference, can't even tell its a quilt as you go quilt.

I used the Fun and Done Method. Like you said - too rigid not comfy for a lap quilt. I think it would be a great method for a wall quilt - becasue it would be nice and sturdy.

Now I have something to do while watching TV.
