I want to say the blocks were 8" (print cut @ 8 1/2" & 4 patches cut @ 4 1/2"). The quilt finished about 40" square - the size I aim for ;-).

How lucky can you be to have an almost completed quilt standing by in the wings. BTW, I love your binding. It sets the beautiful off perfectly!

Thanks. It's my faux piped binding that I love to use (well, not "my", I got it from a tutorial online.) Here's the link if you're interested. It lets you machine stitch the binding down while hiding stitches. http://tlcstitches.blogspot.com/2010...-tutorial.html

I was just wonderful, do you seasoned quilters out there have a few spare quilts - baby boy, baby girl, comfort lap quilts around, just in case?
Sometimes things cropped up, and you want to gift a comfort quilt, but you have all the materials, just not enough time!

I keep a tote full of rag squres cut; clipped and sewen with the x in the middle ready for construction just for this type of thing. When I bought my Accuquilt Go I did so for the raq die and I love it. By having these ready I can quickly select blocks for what ever gender I need and have time to stitch them together and sometimes I put them on the embroidery machine to add some design to the back. Makes my life so much easier.
