Anyone do art type quilts where you maybe use mixed media? Know of any good sites pertaining to art quilts? Thanks.

There is a magazine named Quilting Arts which is wonderful. I get it at JoAnn's with the 40% coupon.

I am just starting to try a few mixed media things- lots of fun, but I am not sure it would be called art!
The website for Quilting Arts (www.quiltingarts.com)is great- lots of freebies especially is you sign up (which is free). |

I agree that Quilting Arts is a wonderful source of information.
Quilt University has a lots of non-traditional classes and adds more each semester. http://www.quiltuniversity.com/catalog.htm The websites and blogs of many of the fiber and mixed-media artists have loads of tips, tricks, techniques and tutorials as well. Check the SAQA website for artists names and links to many of their sites. http://www.saqa.com/index.php There is also a great deal of information at the QuiltArt site (and even more if you subscribe to the mail list). http://www.quiltart.com/ |
Wish I could help you. I don't make art quilts -- just not creative enough.

Both Quilting Arts and Cloth Paper Scissors magazines have a lot of good technique articles. Both also have websites with supplemental photos and templates, etc.
If you go to Flickr and search for art quilts you can find enough to keep you busy for a good long time. Stampington Co. has a lot of related products, and some nice articles and links. |
