Search "Kaffe's garden at night" Looks like a beautiful wall hanging!

Beautiful fabrics. How about Flavin Glover's -" Zinnias- Diamond Log Cabin Wall Quilt". Uses your mentioned diamond shapes, lots of colors, good instructions and not paper pieced, although paper piecing is my favorite method. Go to flavinglover.com. Also, remember even wall hangings need to be taken own occasionally to rest, so you might consider two or more or seasonal colors.

Beautiful ideas! Thanks. I have been considering a dresden and the zinnia is right along with that.

I have considered log cabin, or a log cabin in the round. I could make seahorses, light to dark.

You've already gotten lots of great ideas, and I must say the first thing that popped into my head was some sort of 3-D design using 60 degree triangles. That was before I read through the posts and found you are considering that. You have lots of great colors to work with! Here are some great designs by Marci Baker:

I see that you are in Washington, so how about considering Bonnie Hunter’s Scrappy Mountain Majesties (http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/...majesties.html)? But I would not use that border - rather just bind it with black or a mixed fabric binding. You could make the quilt as big as you like.

I've always loved "delectable mountains". What a fantastic technique! And the "streak of lightning" arrangement is mondo cool. I'm going to have to see how that lays out.
I'm making a list, you guys. Thank you! |
