So happy that you fessed up and talked to your DH...he didn't know! They can't help in the right way when they don't know what to do. Sounds like things are rolling in the right direction now.
For future reference...if you have a computerized machine...please take it in to the pro's for service...taking apart any of the computer part is a bad thing to do unless you have a "static free" area and the proper tools. |
I don't let my hubby near my machine. If he wants to play, he can use my mechanical machine. He knows better than to try to do any maintenance.
Hope you get it working good again. |
just get an old rag and wipe every thing till there is no more oil coming off your machine. adjust the tensions and sew several times with old material and the oil should be caught on the cloth and then every thing will be ok.
I wouldn't say any thing to hubby-his manly feelings would be hurt. and he sounds like a dear man. |
good luck with the cleaning and repairs on your oun.
|
Watch out for good intentions! :)
|
Take it in for service and tell them what happened...so they know what to look for. This will not be the first machine they've seen that was "loved to death"...good luck.

Many of the newer machines are not supposed to be oiled.
Bless him for trying : / |
take it to a shop have it checked...

Rethread you machine and make sure your bobbin is put in the correct way. While holding the bobbin in your hand, pull the thread. Some machines it has to go clockwise, some counter-clockwise. Let us know what works!

Loosen the top tension all the way and use a sturdy piece of thread to "floss" between the tension discs. Sometimes there's a piece of thread stuck in there that'll mess with ya big time.
Another thing: When changing the top thread, NEVER pull your thread out backward. Cut the thread at the top, release the tension (lift the presser foot), and pull the thread out at the needle. I learned the hard way...it got tangled inside somewhere and cost me a repair visit! I'll always be careful for the rest of my days |
