Attaching prairie points to quilt?
 

I have looked and looked at instructions and videos on how to attach prairie points.
I,m more confused than in the beginning of my search.
Do you use a border in addition to the points, do you put them in between the backing
and front and if so, how would that be done.
Please, if there is a simple way to do this, I would like to know how.
I,m making a baby quilt and love the way this looks.

i'll give it a try and others can help.

After quilting lay your PPs raw edges even with the raw edge of the quilt top with the point going towards the center of the quilt. baste them onto the top with a seam allowance slightly narrower than 1/4" .

I have onle knife edge finish when I do prarie points so other s can help out there.


Now there are many variations on how the PPs can look. They can overlap or be right next to each other or they can nest in the fold.


I like to to start laying them out from the center of the edge to the corners and space them so when you get to the corner the PPs meets tip to tip on each edge.

There is some good info here that I didn't think of like quilting only up to 1" away from the edge of the quilt. This is also for the points along the edge of a quilt.

I don't know the "correct" method, but this is what I did: I spaced the PPs beginning in the center and meeting the corners. This was done with the points at the raw edge facing the center of the quiilt on the top side. Machine basted that down. Then I cut a strip 2" wide and enough to go all the way around the perimeter, pressed it in half as in doing a binding but only not as wide. Placed that strip over the PPs and stitched down as a binding. Turned the strip to the back and hand stitched it down as with a binding. Does that make sense? In garment sewing we call that applyng a facing.
