And, as for soldiers not wanting RW&B...I think Holice is on to something. Especially when deployed, they want things to use in their "home" away from home. Personal style triumphs, for even the biggest patriot. And, FWIW, my sis said flat out "After you've seen as much blood as I have, uhno...don't do red. How about purple and yellow?" :D

Oh great. I just finished a donation baby blanket for our guild....and it's pink! But here's the deal. I went shopping for fleece with the intention of only buying unisex colors/patterns. Last year's blanket was rubber duckies on deep blue (front) and a nice deep yellow for the back. Well, this year, there was absolutely nothing remotely appealing that would have fit the bill. I was so frustrated because of course the blanket had to be done 'yesterday'. So I just bought the pink stuff and whipped it up. Sigh.

Thanks for the reminder! I know that I tend to make girly things. Recently an organization I belong to collected newborn baby items for needy families and we noticed that most of the items donated were for baby girls - when I went shopping I made sure I bought baby boy items. As a grandma I find it more difficult to find cute clothes for my grandsons than for my granddaughters.

As a mother of 2 boys, young adults now, I make things pilow cases and quilts using bright colors(orange, red, green, blues). That gets away from the pinks and purples. I also always pick up train fabrics. My sons loved trains so I still gravitate to those fabrics.

I work at our church pregnancy center and the same thing happens, it seems everything always has some pink in it.

I am a chapter coordinator for Project Linus and you are right. I have so many girl blankets, but, whenever I have someone call or email me regarding information about making blankets, I kindly ask them to please consider making blankets for boys, as we just don't seem to get enough of them. I know we like pink and frilly, but our little boys need blankets too, so that's why I ask. Great post, thank you.

I have been making only boy quilts because I do notice how many really girly quilts are done! I'm working on a turtle quilt right now!

I make donation crib quilts and so far they've all been boy things precisely for this reason. Besides there are so many cute little boy fabrics!
