I have a friend who works in an office with no windows. I had the idea to make a wallhanging for him that has photos printed on fabric (one photo for each season possibly). I was thinking of attic windows for the pattern but I want to use fairly large photos--perhaps 5x7 or maybe 6x6. Does anyone know how I would go about determining the sides? I have made attic windws years ago and can do the inset, which I prefer. Since I can't find a pattern for my custom size block I will need to somehow design one but I am horrible at math!
Anyone have any ideas? I'd really like to make something like this to cheer up his dreary work space! |
I've seen attic window quilts where you use a panel of scenery and cut it apart for the windows.

This is the site I went to when I made mine.
http://www.bobrow.net/kimberly/Quilt...xy/index2.html To make a window you must first start with a size (i dont know if it can be done anyother way but I recomend SQUARE like 5X5 or whatever) then its easy to figure sides choose a width (2 or 3 in) and add 3 in to length of square. read about the davids galaxy quilt a few times over and you will get the gist of it I think, If I could you can. Here is what I made . . GOOD LUCK, its fun once you get started! i cut mine 6X6 with 3" width and extra 3" length so 9" X 3" And Ta Da!!
