I like the bottom one....seems to pick up all the colors.

nanac 05-21-2013 05:08 AM

Sorry, I do not like any of them. IMO, they all draw the eye away from the center to the borders. Since you have a lot of primary colors, I would suggest a near solid of one of the primary colors, perhaps red or blue?

gmcsewer 05-21-2013 05:19 AM

I like to cut strips across WOF for borders. Then it looks like a "piano keyboard" effect. Thisi would be my choice for you.

Snooze2978 05-21-2013 05:30 AM

I agree with QuiltnNan, none of them speak to me. If you have to pick from one of the four, I'd say the bottom one. Otherwise I'd find something in either the red or orange tones as those are the colors that seem to pop out at me.

Not sure I like any of them but if I had to chose I'd say the pink. Maybe pick a color from the top to use as boarder.

Carol34446 05-21-2013 05:38 AM

Of the ones there, the bottem, but if you have background materal, a red border and then the background would be great, or plain red.

Diana Lea 05-21-2013 06:34 AM

I do not like any of the four, sorry.

KathyPhillips 05-21-2013 07:03 AM

This is what I would use--Red.

sorry, but i don't care for any of them. to me, your red squares [at least they look red on my computer] jump out at me. so i would choose a quieter border in the red.

I've decided to try a border of the white background squiggle fabric and then bind it in the bright red of the little squares. The backing will be the white squiggle. Thank you! I feel so much better now.

You have made an excellent choice and your quilt will be luscious when completed. Please post a picture at that time. Thanks for sharing.

salederer 05-21-2013 07:15 AM

I like the bottom one. It picks up all the colors in the main part of the quilt top. Pretty and fun too!

nygal 05-21-2013 07:39 AM

I like the bottom fabric best.

Julielhs 05-21-2013 08:29 AM

I like the pink one on the left, but the same red as the red squares would look good

MargeD 05-21-2013 08:56 AM

For me, I'd choose the pink polka dot or the multi-color pink.

quilt addict 05-21-2013 08:57 AM

I too like these discussions as I learn so much when people explain why they do or do not like something. I look forward to seeing what you have when finished. I was going to suggest something in the aqua range maybe. I do like the idea if you had enough of the various prints used to make a piano key border. But the background fabric will look really nice also. You did very good at the D9P fabric choices and positions.

kaleda 05-21-2013 12:15 PM

I think the Hot Pink border on the left is best. It's striking; blends with the background used in the quilt; has the same intensity as the larger quilt blocks. It doesn't fight or compete with the center of the quilt either. Congratulations on your pretty baby gift!

mamaw 05-21-2013 12:27 PM

May I suggest the red used in the smaller squares.

CAS49OR 05-21-2013 12:39 PM

If I had to pick I would have said the pink tonal, I think you made a much better decision! Pretty quilt!

I agree with alisonquilts and bigsister63, as I do not like any of the 4 you have chosen. The stripe is way to heavy for a kids quilt and the others just don't do it justice. I would use either the background fabric or fabric from one of the squares if available. Good luck with this. Quilt itself though is very nice.

nananurse 05-21-2013 02:15 PM

I'm with QuiltnNan a red border.

LadyGem2008 05-21-2013 02:22 PM

I like the top one as the quilt itself is busy enough and it's not so busy but still has pattern to it.

noveltyjunkie 05-21-2013 02:26 PM

Sounds gorgeous!!! Lovely work so far, and looks like what she requested too!

Well, you have the bright, cheerful, graphic beautifully done. Love it. I don't really like any of the borders. Do you have enough of the light white fabric? Maybe that, then a thin pieced border using all the other fabric and bind in a color in the quilt. What ever you decide, it will be a great quilt.

SandyWh 05-21-2013 02:29 PM

Goodness, guess we were posting at the same time. What fun.

I agree, red border. Didn't like the other ones, three of them....the print was too busy, and took away from the focus of the quilt itself.

Monika 05-21-2013 04:44 PM

Your plan sounds good. The quilt is very cute...would love to see the finished product!!!

Auntie Em 05-21-2013 04:58 PM

I don't really think any of them make your beautiful quilt pop....wondering what a blue or red would look like....

Seaside gal 05-21-2013 07:25 PM

I think I would like an aqua border to pick up the aqua in the quilt.

Rose_P 05-21-2013 07:45 PM

I like the bottom one, but the top one would work if you use the striped one for the binding. Actually, if you have enough, that darker pink fabric with the orange flowers that occurs several times in the quilt would bring it all together nicely, and that would look great with the stripes as the binding.

Andrea 05-22-2013 01:23 PM

I like the stripes. The pink seems too bright and it draws the color from the quilt blocks. The other two, to me, just contribute to the "busyness" and your eye doesn't know where to go. The stripe makes a very nice frame that highlights the quilt. That's what I think, anyway.

linmid 05-23-2013 02:04 PM

My choice would be the hot pink tone on tone dots. Good job on the quilt.

faykilgore 05-24-2013 03:28 AM

It's refreshing to see an actual discussion here. Lots of different opinions. I like the choice you made. I do hope you put a narrow inner border to frame your gorgeous quilt body. Thanks for sharing!

jetayre 05-24-2013 03:42 AM

I would take the pink on the RH side and split with a white or the material with the white in the quilt to break up the look

jetayre 05-24-2013 03:43 AM

Excuse me, the LH side. Can't tell left from right.!

Annie68 05-24-2013 07:28 AM

I think the stripe does the best job of bringing out the interior fabrics. Great quilt!:)

KimmieH 05-24-2013 09:23 AM

no rule saying you must do a border! ive been doing them that way lately.
