Boy, I love the simplicity of this tool. I don't do much hand quilting but this little tool seems to be a useful way to improve and ease your stitching.

It used to be handled exclusively by the two sisters who owned JanniLou's quilt shop in Philomath, OR. I took a hand quilting class from them about 20 years ago but never got comfortable with Aunt Becky's, or with hand quilting in general. Lots of people swear by it, so it's worth a try. Sadly, that wonderful quilt shop is no longer in business.

Well, I almost feel as though I've learned something. Never having hand quilted anything, this is a new language but one I find quite fascinating. I own both a floor quilting frame and a hoop frame so there are few arguments left as to why I can't give this a try.
I say "almost", because not being familiar with the rocking motion of hand quilting I was left feeling that something mysterious was happening under the quilt. It seems like a nice two-handed exercise. |
