Autograph Quilt for Wedding
 

I would like to make an autograph quilt for my son's wedding. Please offer best suggestions and pictures. ThankS!!!!!MA

My daughter's getting married and requested a wall hanging. They love riding Harley's so I'm found a pattern of a couple on a motorcycle, with mountains, trees, etc. It's orange batik background with everything else in silhouette. Guests will sign on the front and backing.

Be sure to sure the QB for past threads about signature quilts. I would iron freezer paper to muslin and then cut out over-sized pieces for the signatures. One of the problems with signatures is that people tend to write into the seam allowance, even if you have marked it off for them. One of the best suggestions I have seen is to make a window the correct size for the signature in a file folder; adhere the freezer-paper back signature muslin to the wrong side of the file folder's window. That will stop people from writing inside the seam allowance!

To repeat what I have done:
Prepare the fabric for accepting the writing. Make a file folder to size of unfinshed block piece and then cut a window on the front side for the actual size of the signature portion. On the back inside of the file folder use a Sharpie type pen to mark a baseline. Give each person the file folder with the fabric inside. Have plenty of extra fabric pieces as many people can't follow directions. It helps if you have several people helping with this and it helps to have extra pens, as they tend to 'walk'.
