I use it all the time on the machines that have it... my Brother works 100% of the time, my Singer 80%--my vintage machines--have to get out the old reading glasses

I use mine all the time. Look at the part of the treader that that comes and goes thrugh the needle down real close. You may not be placing your thread in exactly the right place for the little bitty hook to catch it and pull it back through the needle.

I used to use mine a lot on my Bernina, but then I had cataract surgery and now I don't need/use it anymore...much faster by hand.

My Singer works every time for my husband but just seems too complicated for me or I'm not holding my mouth right or something so I bought a needle threader for it. |
I had to find the exact combination of moves to make this thing work! Took about a year.
I now to do this in order: Presser foot down Needle up Presser foot up thread machine Presser foot down Push automatic threader. In that sequence it works every time. my machine sometimes likes to make my like complicated. |
I can still thread a needle without aids, easily, but the threaders on my Berninas, my Quest Plus, and my kids' Brother HS 2000 all work great, ONCE I got the hang of each. Clotilde also sells machine threaders, a tiny wire on a stick that you insert through the needle from behind, grab the thread, and pull through. I bought several to put with each of my vintage machines, just in case. Works like a charm.

I have a 10 yr old Pfaff that won't thread unless i push it with mi finger from the back. I learned how to make it work. I couldn' live without it. My new embroidery is a Pfaff too and gets it 100% right. The hight of the needle is the trick. must be up and foot down.

always use mine...love it...with old eyes its so easy

I had one on my pfaff 1222 from 1977 and when it was time to replace the machine, that feature alone weighed heavily on the choice of my new pfaff 1475 around 1005--2000... they have merged with janome/new home and even singer so now the feature is available on a wide variety of machines... i absolutely love it...that and the little light that shows me when i have 3 ft of thread left on my bobbin...

I have had problems using the threader also. It probably does take pratice and I am sure its me! I need to spend more time praticing on it.
