Baby boy quilt ideas?

My niece is expecting and I had my mindset that she was going to have a little girl. I was all ready with Strawberry Shortcake and come to find out she is having a little boy. I have no ideas for a boy...but I know you guys on the board always have great ideas. So what do you guys think... what is a good pattern for a little boy? I have this fabric purchased https://www.fabric.com/buy/0344249/r...etrucks-yellow I have the yellow and blue fire truck patterns (soon to be grandpa is the fire chief) and I have the red dots and the stripes. I have an idea, but I am not too thrilled with it. What do you guys think?

Love the fabric. Easy pattern is Yellow Brick Road or a Turning Twenty, the redo of the Book 1

Disappearing 9-patch... or Warm Wishes using that wonderful firetruck fabric as the main focus fabric.

Yes, my first thought was also Warm Wishes because it is fast and easy. But what about a pieced Firetruck using your red fabric. You could make it more personal by putting Grandpa's fire station number on the door. It doesn't have to be an exact replica. I just did a Google search using "pieced fire truck pattern" and there are a bunch of really cute images. You could use the yellow fire truck fabric as background, or backing or if Grandpa's firetruck is yellow....lots of ways to go here.

I made a few quilts using a kite in the center. They are a big hit at the baby showers! Easy to make too.

A Board member recently posted this link to free designs and if you scroll down, there is a pattern that would be ideal for your fabrics. It is called Houndstooth Trucks Quilt. Link:

I haven't done a disappearing nine patch or turning twenty yet. I have to percolate on those. Kathy T. - that houndstooth truck quilt does appear to be a good fit. I have only done applique one time so I am little nervous about trying that.. but it would be very cute. Thankyou

Your fire truck fabric is darling and perfect for my default baby quilt pattern. Pick a main focus fabric and cut 6 1/2" squares, then pick a couple of coordinates and make either 4-patches or pinwheels. I do a 5x5 grid or 5x7 grid, then do a narrow inner border with a coordinate, then outer borders with the focus fabric. Quick and easy.

I'm binding two at the moment done 5x7 with the 4-patch variation. (My Stepdaughter and nephew's wife due a week apart! Eek!)
