what is a good general size to make a baby quilt for the crib? I want the quilt to also be able to be used for the toddler bed that the crib can be turned into.
now I have another question. I am doing a DNP for the top. there will be at least one boarder. what size squares do I need to start out with. I was thinking around 5" or so but not sure. what is the "general rule" for that? thanks. (I plan on calling the new mommy who this is for and having her measure the crib for exact dimensions. |
The mattress is 27.25 x52"

the QuiltFab reference app on my iPhone says that a crib quilt could be 36 x 60, to allow for a "drop". They do show the size of your mattress as the same. I usually make my baby quilts smaller, but, the moms don't plan on using them on a toddler bed. I will also be interested in seeing everyone's input. don't forget to post a picture when it is done!!

Here are three of the 6 fabrics that I am using in the quilt. I can't wait to get them all to get sewing them together.

So pretty! I would love a quilt from those fabrics.

I think the 36x60 size is reasonable because it will be double-duty on the toddler bed. although mom will have to be careful with the extra fabric while used in the crib, like maybe tuck it in so baby cannot get into the folds?
