I want to make a whole piece baby quilt. Aproxamately how much fabric do you suggest to use. Someone told me a yard and then someone said alittle more. Opinions please.

I usually go with about 40-42" square for a baby quilt. That way I don't have to piece the back, which I hate to do!

I go with 36'' to 40" just depends...and I do this for the same reason bj does..

I have a favorite recieving blanket that I make and everyone eems to love them I buy 1 1/4 yards of 2 different flannela lay right sides together trim
so even all around stitch leaving and opening for turning press and top stitch the nursing mothers love them say are just right size

I usually buy my batting first and go from there...not much on measuring, sorry. I prefer using one piece rather than trying to figure out laying the edges over each other or however it goes. I also pieced most of mine but have used the preprinted panels and did a few using minkee and a cotton.
Those were about a yard and a half if memory serves.
