Baby Quilts

I am going to a baby shower soon and wanted to make a quilt. What size are baby quilts? Thanks.

The ones I make are 45"x60" so they can be used a little longer than just in the crib. Hope that helps.

I usually make then narrower than the backing so that I don't have to piece it

I agree with momto5 however, I have made them smaller for use in a crib or stroller. Those would be about 36x48. This size is also a good drag-a-long size when the child is older. It is totally up to you.

A program at our guild makes them 36 x 36" square...... I have made many that size...but when I make them for family they're usually about 40 x 50" approx. as I don't usually use a pattern, but like a rectangle shape & one that can be used in the crib or laid on the floor as a play blanket.

I make many baby quilts and usually make them just a tad smaller than 45 so I don't have to piece the back and then about 60 inches long so they fit a 6 yr crib size.

The panels that are sold for baby quilts are 36 x 45". But I like to make them larger so the baby can use it longer. I usually make them about 45 x 54". If you use a baby quilt panel, that's done by adding 5" borders around the entire panel.
